Peripheral Oedema in a Patient taking Olanzapine (A Case Report)

Abstract
Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic used in the management of major psychiatric schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder and has proven to be effective in the management of psychosis in demented patients. Pre-marketing trials have reported that peripheral oedema is an uncommon side effect of olanzapine use. This report presents a case of a 40 year old patient with facial and pedal oedema possibly precipitated by olanzapine.
