Abstract:

Background: Sleep is a physiological process crucial to the physical and psychological well-being of humans. Sleep disturbances can arise due to medical, psychological, and environmental factors. Studies from various parts of the world have shown that informal caregivers of chronically ill individuals have a high prevalence of sleep disturbances. However, there is a scarcity of such studies among Nigerians.

Aim: This study aims to determine the prevalence of sleep disturbances among primary informal caregivers of individuals with mental illness and to compare it with that of non-caregivers in the same region.
